Ideally, Homework Sessions should take place in an active, happy family area, such as a kitchen or a dining room. It is best if other family members pay at least occasional attention to these sessions, reinforcing their importance and placing the child in the spotlight.
The child sits with the parent – often on the parent’s lap – and works with a crayon on worksheets that are provided by the Plan, although parents and children often make their own worksheets. (The worksheets can be downloaded in Microsoft Word format, allowing for easy revision by the interested parent.) There are a total of 191 worksheets, which together form a carefully planned, layered curriculum.
Homework Sessions should last only as long as the child continues to be interested, and in any event no longer than fifteen minutes. (Each worksheet is designed so that sessions using that worksheet will end naturally in a period of time that is reasonable under the circumstances.)
Homework Sessions should occur between two to four times a week, on average.
